Song Recital with Marta Wryk and Sina Kloke

About the event

“He is so ladylike and she a consummate gentleman” – a contemporary wrote of Fryderyk Chopin and George Sand. George Sand in particular, with her cigarettes, her tailcoat and her man's name, caused considerable irritation at the time.

In a presented song recital, mezzo-soprano Marta Wryk and pianist Sina Kloke tell the inspiring stories of four women composers of the 19th century and their connection to Chopin: Clara Schumann, Marie von Kehler, Irene Poldowski and Pauline Viardot.

Marta Wryk – “a glowing, powerful mezzo presence” (Wiesbadener Kurier) – has been a permanent ensemble member at Theater Bielefeld since 2021/22. Concert engagements have taken her to the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Cologne and Luxembourg Philharmonic halls and the Caramoor Festival in New York.

Sina Kloke – “a magnificent pianist” (Fono Forum) – studied with Pavel Gililov, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Dimitri Bashkirov, Elisabeth Leonskaja and Matti Raekallio at the Juilliard School, among others. She appears at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Carnegie Hall New York and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
