Christopher Elton was born in Edinburgh and studied mainly at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he was awarded the Dip. RAM for both piano and cello. His students have won first prizes at the Van Cliburn, London “World”, “Top of the World”, Shenzhen 2014 and Montreal 2014 competitions as well as at the last four Leeds International Piano Competitions. His former students include Freddy Kempf, Yevgeny Sudbin, Joanna MacGregor, Inon Barnatan and Benjamin Grosvenor.
Christopher Elton has given masterclasses in the USA, Japan, Israel, Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Spain, Germany, Ireland and Vietnam and has served on the juries of many major international competitions (Tchaikovsky Moscow, Dublin, Leeds, Busoni Bolzano, Beethoven Vienna, Santander). In 2017 he was a juror at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth.
