XXVII International Masterclass – Opening Concert with Anna Geniushene

About the event

Anna Geniushene's fresh, multi-layered and powerful interpretations shaped her participation in the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition – and won her the coveted silver medal. “Powerful sound, compelling musical personality and sheer virtuosity …” (Musical America); “a performance of rare dedication and insight” (Onstage NTX).

Musical America named her Young Artist of the Month in July 2022, and Pianist magazine featured her on its cover in June 2023. Recent engagements include debut recitals at the Kennedy Center, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Tonhalle Zurich (replacing Daniel Barenboim), as well as appearances at the Bravo! Vail and Grand Teton festivals. From 2024 to 2027 she is part of the Bowers Program of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Born on New Year's Day 1991 in Moscow, Anna made her debut in the chamber music hall of the Berlin Philharmonie only seven years later. She is a prize-winner of the Leeds Competition (finalist), the Tchaikovsky Competition (semi-finalist) and the Busoni Competition (3rd prize), among others.

In 2015 she graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Prof. Elena Kuznetsova, and in 2018 she completed her master's degree with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music London with Prof. Christopher Elton.
