Presenting the Prelude

About the event

An evening devoted to the prélude: an introductory talk by Thomas Nickelsen, followed by musical illustrations performed by Renata Konyicska and Andrey Zenin.

Thomas Nickelsen, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1954, was Professor of Internal Medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt until his retirement. His debut novel “Die Spur des kleinen Prinzen” was published by Karl Rauch Verlag in 2015. Since 2016 he has produced the CD series “Anthology of American Piano Music” with the pianist Cecile Licad.

Renata Konyicska is a Hungarian-British pianist, praised for her “sparkling, crystal-clear passagework” (Classical Music Daily). She has won first prizes at the Zlatko Grgosevic Competition in Croatia, the Città di Gorizia Competition and the Smetana Competition, among others. She studied at the Liszt Academy Budapest, the Royal Academy of Music London and the Birmingham Conservatoire.

Andrey Zenin, born in Sochi in 1995, studied at the Rachmaninov Conservatory in Rostov and at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Today he is a student of Balazs Szokolay at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar. In 2022 he received 3rd prize and the improvisation prize at the XII International Chopin Piano Competition in Darmstadt.
