New Year's Concert with Vincent and Sophie Neeb

    Neujahrskonzert mit Klavierduo Neeb

With swing into the new year – a musical firework for piano four hands

    About the event

With charm, virtuosity and palpable joy in music-making, the siblings Sophie and Vincent Neeb welcome the new year at the piano four hands. Their richly varied programme draws a fascinating arc from the French sound-poetry of Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Ravel, via the musical surprises of Erwin Schulhoff, to Mozart and the waltz king Johann Strauss. A concert full of elegance, temperament and dancing momentum – and a festive start to the new year!

Afterwards you are invited to the traditional cold buffet – contributions are welcome!

    Sophie und Vincent Neeb— Piano

The siblings Vincent and Sophie Neeb discovered at an early age that playing together as a piano duo was a uniquely intense musical experience. From the very beginning of their artistic development they were honoured with numerous awards: among others, they won the competition at the Internationale Klavierduo-Festival Bad Herrenalb in 2013, the WDR Klassikpreis of the City of Münster in 2015, and first prize at the Südwestdeutscher Kammermusikwettbewerb in Bad Dürkheim. In 2017 they earned the Primo Premio Assoluto as well as numerous special prizes at the Concorso pianistico internazionale Roma for piano four hands. The following year they became scholars of the Hans und Eugenia Jütting Foundation, and they are also scholars of the association Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now. At the Deutschen Musikwettbewerb in 2019 they received several special prizes and a scholarship, combined with admission to the Bundesauswahl Konzerte Junger Künstler*innen. Since then they have appeared in renowned venues such as the Prinzregententheater Munich, the Sendesaal Bremen and the NDR broadcasting house in Hanover, and at prominent festivals such as the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano. Vincent and Sophie completed their studies as a piano duo with Shao-Yin Huang and Sebastian Euler at the Conservatory Innsbruck. They received inspiration from other leading duos such as Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen, as well as from Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl. The siblings received their first piano lessons from Stefan Flemmerer and later were junior students at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Michaela Pühn. Vincent then studied there with Markus Bellheim and is now continuing his training at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with Ewa Kupiec. Sophie began her studies with Sebastian Euler at the Conservatory Innsbruck and is currently continuing them with Konstanze Eickhorst at the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
