    About the event

    Piotr Pawlak was born in Gdańsk on 20 February 1998. In 2016 he graduated with distinction from the Feliks Nowowiejski Music School in Gdańsk, in the piano class of Waldemar Wojtal and the organ class of Hanna Dys. He is currently studying at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

    Piotr has performed at numerous music events in Poland, Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Hungary, Georgia, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Russia, the Czech Republic, Great Britain and the United States. As a soloist he has played with the Lower Silesia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Holy Cross Philharmonic Orchestra, the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra and the Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra.

    From 2009 to 2016 Piotr received various grants from Poland and in 2014 was awarded a scholarship funded by Krystian Zimerman.

    Piotr is a prize-winner of numerous national and international piano competitions: in 2017 he won first prize at the 11th International Chopin Piano Competition in Darmstadt, in 2018 second prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Budapest and in 2016 second prize at the 1st International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Beijing. In October 2015 Piotr was one of the youngest participants of the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.

    Alongside his pianistic career, Piotr Pawlak is also an award-winning organist and a prize-winner of national and international competitions in mathematics and computer science.
