After a long time, we are once again offering our audience an evening of song, this time with two young, award-winning German musicians, Maja Lange (soprano) and Lisa Wellisch (piano), who together won 2nd prize at the “International Competition for 20th/21st Century Song” in Karlsruhe in 2015.

Biographies
Maja Lange— Soprano
Already during her vocal studies, the German soprano Maja Lange was heard in numerous opera roles, such as Cecilio in Mozart's “Lucio Silla”, Laura in Tchaikovsky's “Iolanta”, Donna Elvira in Mozart's “Don Giovanni” and Flora in Verdi's “La Traviata”. In 2014 she made her debut as Pamina in Mozart's “Magic Flute” at the “Schärding Summer Opera” and sang Leonore in a concert production of “Fidelio” at the Beethoven House in Bonn. Maja Lange was born in Strausberg near Berlin and began her musical education with flute lessons. She then studied voice and vocal pedagogy at the “Hanns Eisler” Academy of Music in Berlin with Professors Julia Varady-Fischer-Dieskau and Magdalena Hajóssyová, and art song interpretation with Prof. Wolfram Rieger. She took part in masterclasses with Mirella Freni, Christine Schäfer, Peter Schreier, Brigitte Fassbaender and Juliane Banse, among others. Since April 2015 she has studied as a duo with the pianist Lisa Wellisch in the song class of Hartmut Höll and Mitsuko Shirai in Karlsruhe. In addition to several opera productions as a soloist (including at the Volksbühne Berlin), she has sung song recitals and concerts throughout Central Europe and in Great Britain and Canada, and has appeared as a guest at various festivals. She has performed as a soloist in important concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Beethoven House in Bonn and the Badisches Staatstheater. In 2015 she was a semi-finalist at the “International Competition for Wagner Voices” and, together with Lisa Wellisch, won 2nd prize at the “International Competition for 20th/21st Century Song” in Karlsruhe. Maja Lange is a 2016 scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association Karlsruhe.
Lisa Wellisch— Piano
The Bayreuth pianist Lisa Wellisch made her solo debut with Mozart's “Jeunehomme Concerto” at the opening of the German Mozart Festival in 2008. Since then she has given numerous solo, song and chamber music recitals throughout large parts of Germany as well as in Austria, France, Italy, Poland, Oman and Switzerland. Lisa Wellisch acquired her broad musical education at four different music academies: alongside attending a grammar school with a musical focus, she first studied piano as a junior student in the class of Prof. Michael Wessel at the Bayreuth Academy for Protestant Church Music. From 2006 to 2013 she studied for her Bachelor's degree in piano and school music at the Stuttgart Academy of Music (class of Prof. Hans-Peter Stenzl), specialising in song and chamber music. From 2013 to 2015 she completed her Master's degree in solo piano with Prof. Gilead Mishory at the Freiburg Academy of Music with top marks. In 2015 she was admitted, together with soprano Maja Lange, to the song class of Professors Hartmut Höll and Mitsuko Shirai at the Karlsruhe Academy of Music. She is a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation “Live Music Now” and of the International Richard Wagner Association (2012), and a prizewinner of international competitions.
