Neujahrskonzert 2022 – Singend ins Neue Jahr

    About the event

“Glowing, powerful mezzo presence” (Wiesbadener Kurier)

Marta Wryk is an international mezzo-soprano whose concert and opera engagements have taken her to the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Symphony Space in New York, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Cologne Philharmonic, the Luxembourg Philharmonic, Cologne Opera, the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and the Caramoor Festival in New York, among others. In the 2020–2021 season she was invited to Bonn Opera, the Cologne Philharmonic and the Bydgoszcz Baroque Scene Festival. Since this season she has been a permanent ensemble member of Bielefeld Opera, appearing as Ferdinand in “Egmont”, as the Dryad in “Ariadne auf Naxos” and as the Second Wood Sprite in “Rusalka”.

Marta Wryk is Polish and studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Her voice teachers include Charles Kellis, Maitland Peters, Marlena Malas, Mariola Mainka and Monika Kopp. She refined her artistry further in master classes with Tom Krause, Helena Łazarska, Ileana Cotrubas, Helen Donath, Stephanie Blythe, Elly Ameling, Roger Vignoles and Helmut Deutsch, among others.

“Sensitivity, musical expressiveness and a flawless, transparent technique” characterise the playing of Aleksandra Mikulska, professor at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden since 1 September 2021. Her interpretations have received numerous international awards, including the special prize as best Polish pianist at the 15th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw. In her concerts she seeks to open up unfamiliar worlds and to touch people with complete devotion – whether with the music of Bach, Haydn, Liszt or her compatriot Fryderyk Chopin, to whom she feels a particular affinity.

Concert invitations have taken her to the Vienna Musikverein, the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Essen Philharmonic, the Nikolaisaal Potsdam, the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, the Munich Künstlerhaus and the Warsaw National Philharmonic. Aleksandra Mikulska is a regular guest at international festivals.
