About the event
A cooperation with the European Partnership Association.
Born in the province of Québec, the 31-year-old is regarded as one of the most important musicians of his generation. In 2015 he won second prize at the world's most prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw as well as the Krystian Zimerman Prize for the best performance of a Chopin sonata. A year earlier he had already achieved success at piano competitions in Montreal (Canada) and Seoul (South Korea).
Tours have taken Charles Richard-Hamelin, who received his first piano lessons from his father, through Canada, the USA, Europe and Asia. To date he has appeared with more than 50 ensembles and performed under renowned conductors. In the Süddeutsche Zeitung the music critic Harald Eggebrecht praised a concert by Charles Richard-Hamelin with these words: “The power, the splendour and the young pianist's feeling for emphasis were as gripping as his enormous ability to convey dream, poetry and longing.”
