About the event

Marek Kozák (b. 1993) is one of the most gifted Czech pianists and organists of today's generation. His career as a pianist began already at the arts-oriented primary school in Brušperk, where he received his first prizes. He then attended the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, where he studied in the class of Monika Tugendliebová. He subsequently moved to the Prague Academy of Music, into the class of Prof. Ivan Klánský.

Marek Kozák is a winner of the Chopin Competition in Mariánské Lázně 2013, the Smetana Competition in Plzeň (Pilsen), and the competition in Brno; 3rd prizewinner of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Darmstadt 2013; semi-finalist at the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw 2015; and 2nd prizewinner at the Prague Spring Competition 2016.

For the Chopin Society in Darmstadt, where audiences can admire him for the third time — the last time being at the unforgettable Chopin marathon in March 2015 — Marek Kozák will not only play Chopin but will span a great arc from the Baroque to the Modern, showing his audience the full breadth of his artistry.
