About the event
Prof. Carmen Piazzini comes from a well-known family of musicians in Buenos Aires. Concerts, radio, television, records and CDs document her impressive solo career with a repertoire ranging from the Classical period to contemporary music. She has recorded more than 50 CDs, including complete recordings of Mozart (all piano sonatas and piano concertos), Beethoven (all piano concertos), Haydn (all piano sonatas) and Mendelssohn Bartholdy (Songs without Words) as well as “Piazzini plays Piazzolla”. Her latest CD features works by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms.
For many years she was professor of piano at the Karlsruhe University of Music. She currently teaches a piano class at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt and regularly gives masterclasses in Europe and South America.
In 1998 and again in 2009 Carmen Piazzini was awarded the Argentine Press Prize as best pianist. In 2001 she received the renowned Tortoni Prize. In 2007 she was nominated for a Grammy together with Bernarda and Marcos Fink for their CD “Canciones Argentinas”.
