Experience Chopin from a different angle! An evening of works by Mozart and Chopin, including arrangements for piano and violin, performed by Dina Yoffe (piano) and Michael Vaiman (violin).

DINA YOFFE, a top prize-winner of the International Schumann and Chopin piano competitions, is an honorary member of the Chopin Society Warsaw and a professor at the Katarina Gurska Centro Superior Madrid and the EuroArts Academy. Born in Riga (Latvia), she graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Prof. Vera Gornostaeva, an important representative of the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus school.

Her concert work is known in many European countries, in the former Soviet Union, in Israel, Japan, the USA and Canada. Highlights include concerts with the Israel Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta, the NHK Symphony Orchestra under Neville Marriner, the Moscow Philharmonic under Valery Gergiev and Dmitri Kitayenko, the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra under James DePriest, Kremerata Baltica under Gidon Kremer and Sinfonia Varsovia under Jacek Kaspszyk, as well as recitals at the festival “Chopin and his Europe” Warsaw, the Chopin Festival Duszniki, Bayreuth, the Elba Music Festival, the Summit Music Festival (USA), the Barbican Centre London, Suntory Hall Tokyo, Sala Verdi Milan, the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna and the Salle Pleyel Paris.

She regularly gives masterclasses in Europe, the USA and Japan (Piano Texas Academy, Mozarteum Summer Academy Salzburg, Royal Academy and Royal College London, among others) and has been a guest professor at the Yamaha Masterclasses in Paris, New York, Hamburg and Tokyo. She was a professor at the Rubin Academy Tel Aviv from 1989 to 1996, guest professor at Aichi University of the Arts in Japan from 1995 to 2000, taught at the Hamburg University of Music in 2013–2014 and is a guest professor at the Central Music Conservatory Beijing. She has served on juries in Cleveland, Hamamatsu, at the Chopin Competition Warsaw and the Arthur Rubinstein Competition Tel Aviv.

MICHAEL VAIMAN, born in Odessa, was a top prize-winner of the H. Wieniawski Competition in Poznań and has been professor of violin at the Cologne-Aachen University of Music since 1999, as well as at the Katarina Gurska Centro Superior Madrid and the EuroArts Academy / Talent Music Master Academy. He is artistic director of the Musical Summer Festival & Masterclass in Málaga.

After graduating from the Stolyarsky School of Music he studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with David Oistrakh and Semyon Snitkovsky. Praised early on as the “poet of the violin”, he is admired for his “technical brilliance”, “noble articulated tone” and “deep musical understanding”. His repertoire comprises all the violin sonatas of Beethoven, Brahms, Prokofiev, Franck and Schumann as well as all works by Schubert and Shostakovich for violin and piano. He has performed with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra (G. Herbig), the Moscow Philharmonic (Y. Simonov), the St Petersburg Symphony (A. Jansons) and the Moscow Soloists (Y. Bashmet). He taught from 1980 at the Central Music School of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, later at the Rubin Academy Tel Aviv and from 1995 to 1999 as guest professor at Nagoya University.
