For seventy years now, Carmen Piazzini, the grande dame of pianism, has enriched the cultural life of Darmstadt – and far beyond. Her virtuosic playing, marked by profound musical understanding and extraordinary expressive power, has touched and inspired generations of listeners.

As an interpreter of rare sensitivity and artistic integrity, she has given us countless moments of the highest musicality, and as a teacher has passed on her passion and knowledge in equal measure.

In gratitude, we bow before an extraordinary artistic life and a personality who has filled our city with sound, depth and beauty for decades. Carmen Piazzini is donating her fee to a charitable cause, which she will announce in due course.
