    About the event

“160 Years of Friendship Japan–Germany” – piano recital with Hisako Kawamura (1st prize winner Darmstadt 1999). A joint event with the Office for Intercultural and International Affairs, Darmstadt.

The recital with Hisako Kawamura had to be postponed twice because of the coronavirus restrictions. Now we are confident that 2021 will bring a reunion with this sought-after artist in the Orangerie. Darmstadt was the starting point of her career: here she won our society's International Piano Competition in 1999. Several further competition successes in Germany, Italy and Switzerland followed.

Both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, this energetic pianist is now musically at home on several continents. Since 2015 she has held a professorship at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and additionally teaches at the Tokyo College of Music.
